Child Safety & Wellbeing
Every child deserves to feel safe, respected and included. At The Dance Den, we aim to create a welcoming dance environment where children can learn, belong and speak up.
What children can expect
- Respect and inclusion. Kindness, fair treatment and respect for every child, including their culture, abilities and background.
- To be listened to. Children may ask questions, express discomfort and tell a trusted adult if something worries them.
- Supportive teaching. Teachers and assistants are expected to maintain appropriate boundaries and use respectful language and guidance.
Everyday safety at the studio
- Arrival and collection. Please arrive on time, collect children promptly and tell us if another adult is authorised to collect your child. Follow any venue-specific handover instructions.
- Supervision and boundaries. Students should follow staff directions. Instructional physical contact should be appropriate, explained and respectful of a child’s comfort. Toilets and changing spaces are private.
- Health and injury. Keep us informed of relevant allergies, medical needs, injuries, accessibility supports and emergency contacts. Bring suitable dancewear and water; tell a teacher if unwell or injured.
- Respectful behaviour. Bullying, harassment, racism and discrimination are not acceptable. Please tell us promptly if you notice or experience concerning behaviour.
Communication, photographs & privacy
- Photos and videos. We may use photos and or videos to help promote The Dance Den. Please inform us if you do not wish your child to appear in any promotional material. Photography or video recording are not permitted in the bathrooms or changing spaces.
- Information and communication. Student details are used for administration, communication and safety. Information may need to be shared with appropriate authorities when necessary or required by law.
How to raise a concern
You or your child can raise a concern about safety, bullying, staff conduct, supervision or any experience that does not feel right.
- Tell someone. Speak with a trusted teacher or contact the Child Safety Contact below. If the concern involves that person, use the alternative contact.
- We listen and assess safety. We take the concern seriously, record relevant facts and consider immediate protective steps and any external reporting needed.
- We respond. We aim to explain the next steps and follow up as appropriate, while respecting privacy, safety and fairness.
